The forests occupy an area of 4948 ha, almost 40 % of the commune’s territory.
They represent an important economic source for the community.

Predominant are the hornbeam and the beech tree – 86%; there also are common spruce forests (6%).

The possibility of obtaining main products is estimated at 5000 cubic meters.
Accessibility to the forests is 85 %.
It will grow to 100% by arranging new forest roads.

  • In the forest areas there are deers, rabbits, polecats, wolves, foxes, lynxes, badgers and beech martens.
  • There also are many species of birds in the deep forests: motley wood-peckers, tomtits, chaffinches, jays.
  • Butterflies, specific to the alpine altitudes are to be found.
  • The mountain shelter trout, umber, purple barbel, broad snout and chub.




  • The main hunting species in the area are: deers, boars and rabbits.
  • The secondary hunting species are: wolves, foxes, wild cats.
  • The hunting funds are closest to optimum.


  • Crisu Alb River, and its affluents – Buces Valley, Satului Valley and Stanija Valley, constitute the most important fishing fund of the area.
  • The watercourses are 13 km long as a total.
  • Crisul Alb was populated with trout.

In the last years, the locals arranged private fisheries, mostly populated with phytophagous carp.


  • On Stanija Valley and on Magura Creek, in Stanija there are two fisheries: one - 500 square meters populated with carp, owned by Traian Achim Marcus, and another one - 100 square meters, populated with crucian carp, owned by Viorel Bradea.
  • Other two fisheries are arranged in Dupapiatra, by swamp draining. The are owned by Gheorghe Codrea and Andreiu Oprea and are populated with carp and crucian carp.
  • On Vulcanului Valley, in Buces, there’s another fishery owned by Nicolae Mates.
  • Important to remember: each of these fisheries has accommodation facilities for the tourists.

– Several honey-bearing tree species are well represented on the territory of Buces: lime trees, acacia (plantations in Stanija, Dupapiatra and Buces), sycamore maple on Artanului Valley. There are 50 de beekeepers in Buces.

– Medicinal herbs, resin, mushrooms.

THE VARIETY OF THE NATURAL RESOURCES offers development possibilities of particular activities and job opportunities in:

  • Dairy with a capacity of 5000 liters of milk per day; 40 employees.
  • Slaughter house and meat processing, with a production of 3000 de kg per day; 30 employees.
  • Bakery with a production of 2000 de kg per day; 20 employees.
  • Fruit and vegetable drying installations, with an estimated production of 200 kg per day; 15 employees.
  • Valorization of the berries- seasonally- 15 persons.
  • Valorization of the medicinal herbs - seasonally- 15 persons.
  • Fishery -1000 kg/season, 10 persons.
  • Cereal mill, with a production of 2000 de kg per day, 15 employees.
  • Fruit processing (cans, marmalade, stewed fruit)- seasonlly, with a production of 1000 kg per day, 15 employees.
  • Workshops for wood processing, furniture, mill sows
  • Capacities for valorizing the hunt and the mushrooms
  • Workshops for stone processing and making refractory brick
  • Handicraft workshops (sheepskin coats, carpets, etc).

Besides all this abundance of resources potential, Buces also has well prepared labor in all the domains.
